Sampler Square #15 - Puff Stitch

New Stitch:

Puff Stitch (hdc4tog): (YO, insert hook into stitch, YO, pull out of st, pointing hook up to create a long loop) 4 times in same st, YO pull through all 9 loops on hook, ch 1.


Pattern:This pattern is now exclusively available in the ReCrochetions Presents: Rowan’s Learn to Crochet Sampler Afghan Book. Available in Right and Left-handed Editions (see links -->). The book also contains 4 more simple baby blanket patterns and a newborn hat, and 30 complete step-by-step tutorial.

Notes: Remember to keep your loops nice and loose to create more fluffy puff stitches. But not too loose, or the loops just stick out catching on things rather than creating a puff. You may want to practice the stitches in Row 2 several times before starting the square to get the hang of how to work the stitch. I find it helps to pull the hook up as far as it comfortably goes from the work when creating the 2nd loop. The chain after each stitch helps them puff out as well, like with the bobbles in the last square.

Today my son is turning 6 years old. I have been busy working on his Mystery Machine Afghan for the past few weeks. I finished just enough in time for the Party last Saturday, leaving the window open so the kids could pose for pictures inside the Mystery Machine!! It was a hit, but I am still working on the details. More Scooby Birthday Party details and pictures coming soon and got a few days behind on posting.

Since most of you are still working on the earlier squares, I focused on party prep last week instead of worrying about posting Friday. If more of you post comments, I would know you are looking for the patterns and have more inspiration to get the last few posts up. :) Just a few days until our last square!!! Then I will be posting instructions for sewing it all together and three options for edgings!
