Don't Mix White Yarn and Black Cherry Soda...

...On an airplane, while reading a book! Yes, seriously.

My lastest baby blanket project is a beautiful Butterfly Pattern. Yesterday I was flying home from a MOMS weekend in San Francisco. My book lay propped open on my tray table, with the yarn feeding up from a bag by my feet. Ever since I discovered Alaska Airlines now serves Jone's Sodas, I just can't resist ordering a Black Cherry. But I should have known better. I was doing fine balancing everything in my tiny airplane space, until I pulled out the instruction book for my blanket and tried to stash it in the seat pocket in front of me. Of course, the large leaflet flapped down right onto my carefully balanced dark pink soda, pouring all over my beautiful white, lavender, and blue blanket.

Once the beverage service was out of my way, I rushed to the bathroom with a can of club soda. Most of the pink stains came out. I just hope that the 1/2 I haven't finished yet won't look too different from the 1/2 I had to wash repeatedly, and will still be nice enough to donate. Will post pics when closer to finished.

Note to self: Only drink Clear Sodas while crocheting.

  1. The blanket looks awesome! I can't wait to see it finished.

I'd like to try the ladybug one, whenever I feel a little more confident about reading patterns. Even then, I'm sure I'll be showing it to you every time I see you to make sure I'm doing it right. ;-)
