Like I need more new projects...

With my husband off in So. Cal. for work, leaving me alone with two kids for the first time for a week, I consoled myself this afternoon with a little retail therapy...

Several months ago I saw this book, what shall we do today? 60 creative crafting projects for kids at Lowe's. Every time I am there I look for it. So today, when I went there to buy colorful electrical tape and marigold seeds for two other projects, I finally decided to buy it. After all, I need something MORE for Griffin to do while Daddy's gone...

But right next to it was Amanda Soule's HANDMADE HOME Simple Ways to Repurpose Old Materials into New Family Treasures. I LOVE her blog SouleMama.com, and got her first book, THE CREATIVE FAMILY as soon as it came out a couple years ago. She just has so many fun creative ideas for crafting with your kids, and including your kids in the creative activities you enjoy!

So of course I bought them both. And then there was another filled with creative nature & garden projects intended for Grandparents to do with their Grandchildren. I justified that one as a possible gift for my Dad (once I'm done with it). But can't remember the name as I lent it to my neighbor who has helped me with the kids so much this week.

Like I need more ideas for new projects... On a recent questionaire when asked if I collect anything I answered, among other things, "yarn & craft supplies, books about yarn & craft supplies, baskets & boxes to hold yarn and craft supplies." The last two were added by my husband, but clearly I have a problem, and far more books than I'll ever read. But I LOVE having a craftroom so well stocked that when Griffin wanted to make this felted family nest we saw at Beneath The Rowan Tree last week, and paint with fruits, vegetables and even cars, I had everything we needed on hand!

Maybe tomorrow I'll figure out how to get the pictures of Griffin's recent projects off my phone to post them. But I have decided not to let my difficulty getting photos onto my new laptop keep me from blogging anymore. Now I hope to have a quiet few moments to peruse my new books and enjoy a rootbeer float, before baby Willow wakes up for her next round of nursing.
