National Crochet Month Tour! Are you Hooked on Hand Dyed?

Happy National Crochet Month! I'm pleased to be a part of Crochetville's annual Designer Blog Tour, for the second year.

Today I want to tell you about my new obsession. I'm totally Hooked on Hand Dyed Yarns! Have you had the pleasure of crocheting with hand-dyed yarns? The first time I had the opportunity, I was instantly seduced by the subtle shadings of light to dark even in a "solid" color. The depth and interest it brings to your crocheted fabric makes the final result that much more satisfying.

I am excited to announce a new monthly feature here on ReCrochetions.com profiling Dyers In Their Studios! Come back on the first of each month (starting in April!) to read about a new dyer, along with the release of a Hooked on Hand Dyed design using yarns from the dyer featured that month. You will want to come back each month to see them all!

During the Rose City Yarn Crawl I got to meet so many local yarn dyers, that I have decided to start with Portland area dyers. There are so many awesome dyers right in my area that I will have at least a full year worth of posts, AND I will get to visit and photograph many of their studios and the processes they use for dying their awesome yarns to share with you! Profiles will include Stitchjones, Knitted Wit, Bumblebirch, Alexandra's Crafts, Art by Eve, Kate Loomis, Shaggy Bear Farms, and many more.

While most independent hand dyed yarns have plenty of knit patterns available, very few have crochet patterns. I am excited to get to create fun patterns with these great yarns. Each pattern will use just 1 (or maybe 2) skeins of yarn, so if you haven't tried hand dyed, this will be the perfect introduction. And if you love them like I do, you will enjoy finding more crochet patterns made with the yarns you love.

Come back April 1st (no joke!) to see the first profile with Sharon Spence of Stitchjones and my new Shawl pattern using her Pai Mei Lace Weight (80% fine merino/20% bamboo).

Now, pop on over to Crochetville to check out all the other awesome crochet designers on the blog tour this month, and consider whipping up a hat (or 2) to donate to their special Charity, Halos of Hope.
